Hershey’s
If you haven’t seen this classic Christmas commercial, you don’t have a TV.
It’s been on and off the air since 1989 and they even did an updated version a few years ago. These ringing kisses have LONGEVITY!
John Lewis
If you’re not familiar with John Lewis Christmas commercials – go do a search on Youtube right now. This UK-based company produces some of the most wonderful story-driven commercials at Christmas time every year and they’ve been doing it for a long time. This one is from 2011 – but it’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Folger’s
“The best part of waking up…” if you can finish that sentence, you remember all of these throw back Folger’s ads from the 80’s and 90’s. This one from 1986 is one of the most famous… “Peter Comes Home for Christmas.”
These commercials were all like mini Hallmark movies before that was a thing. It was all very sensory too. The sounds of the coffee being made… you can almost smell and taste it.
Coca-Cola
Coca Cola has created many iconic brand characters over the years… Clydesdales, Frogs, the Bud Light Knight… but when Christmas rolls around, we all expect to see the Polar Bears on TV and we all expect to see Santa Cokes on the shelves in stores. It really ushers in the season in a way. This is just one of many examples of this Looooong ongoing Christmas campaign.
Campbells
Don’t lie… if you were walking through the living room and this throw back Campbell’s commercial from 1998 came on… you would stop and watch. This ad is mmm mmm good.
M&Ms
They do exist! You know what else exists – the magic in these commercials that seem to come back around every year.
Sky
So, this commercial technically isn’t a throwback, but it DOES have iconic 80’s characters that provide a heavy dose of nostalgia.
We love catching up with Elliott and E.T. and finding out that Elliott’s kids are pretty much just like him and his sister Gertie. Christmas is the perfect setting for the reunion.
